Awareness Is The First Step In Freedom

Leaving the Christian church after 33 years of being an active member was both terrifying and exhilarating. After all it’s what I used as my identity and served as the source of feeling loved, wanted and needed. The most shocking realization as I look back, is that this is when I feel like my life truly began.

I had no idea that I had an egotistical mind made up of; trauma, pain and walls of resistance, judgement and expectations that were veiling my true identity as a spiritual being, perfect and whole, like the Bible says; “made in the image of God.” It sounds like a contradiction now, but I was taught by the Christian church that I was made in the image of God and at the same time I am a sinful human. I mean we only have one true identity, all else are merely egotistical roles that we play. The human journey is to awaken to who we truly are, by pulling back those egotistical veils. This is what happened to me, as I left the church as a “caterpillar,” entered the “cocoon” of my mind, and finally emerged as my true self, as I realized my oneness with God that we (the Devine energy) call Gypsy Spirit!

This journey out of the darkness of my egotistical fearful mind and into the light of who we are in Christ Consciousness is my mission now to help others to do the same.

Guiding people out of the darkness and into the light is basically this process:

  1. Teach them that they are a strong, beautiful, creative butterfly.
  2. Teach them that they have a caterpillar mind that has been conditioned by the world, experiences and trauma, that has caused them to forget who they are.
  3. The cocoon is a willingness to shed the caterpillar identity, look within, and do the inner work! Healing has been completed when they are walking in peace.
  4. Now they are ready to emerge and accomplish their mission wrapped up in their passions and desires to help humanity.

The very first step in awakening is to recognize that we have an egotistical (caterpillar mind.) What is a caterpillar mind you ask? Here are some of it’s characteristics: Fearful, Self Centered, Self Absorbed, Judgmental, Resistant, Defensive, Abusive, Lazy, Apathetic, Expectations, Indulgent, Addictive, Traumatized, Dis-eased, Not Good Enough, Stays in Comfort Zone, Believes it’s separate from God and everyone, etc. etc. etc.

Step #2 is to begin to live in awareness of the caterpillar mind. We do this by paying close attention to our feelings. When we are triggered or thrown out of peace, we pause – breathe – ask ourselves what we are feeling and why – then tap into our inner guidance for the truth about the situation. That truth gives us guidance as you how to move forward in peace.

Step #3 is when we are willing to take a deep dive within ourselves and to the inner work, or as I call it “Heart Surgery!” Create a comfy, cozy space where you will retreat each morning before you start your day. Make sure to have a journal, pens, blanket, soft music and a cup of your favorite warm beverage.

Simply turn you attention and focus on what you are feeling. Whatever that feeling is, such as; discouragement, un-forgiveness, anger, guilt, shame, resentment, frustration etc. is the subject of the “Heart Surgery” for that day.

Heart Surgery

  1. Pour out onto paper all about the situation and what it is causing you to feel.
  2. Pour out onto paper how this situation is affecting you and how you are trying to cope.
  3. Tap into your inner guidance and ask the truth about yourself, the truth about the other person involved and the truth about this situation, write the truth that comes to mind and brings you peace onto the paper!
  4. With these truths set an intention to remember these truths when thoughts of this situation arise. This is transforming and healing the mind-body-spirit!

Essentially what you are doing is healing from the trauma, tearing down walls, forgiving, releasing judgement and flooding the mind-body-spirit with light, love and peace, which will positively affect and bring healing and restoration to all areas of your life. Over time the thoughts of separation dissipate and you will experience oneness.

What is experienced is what is known!
