Having A Pity Party Will Suck The Life Out Of You

04/04/2023

When I was a leader in a Charismatic Christian Church life seemed so easy. I was in a place where I felt loved, wanted, needed, respected, promoted and received tons of referrals as a Christian Counselor/Coach!

When I followed the Divine’s guidance to leave the corporate church, I was able to walk away from people pleasing which in turn, brought a great sense of peace. But when I stopped identifying as a Christian and instead identified as a Spiritual Guide, the referrals from the Christian Community, understandably slowed way down. After all communities promote their own!

Now the Pity Party thoughts of having to start all over seeped into my mind. When things feel hard our Egotistical Programmed Mind will shift into comparing our journey to others, and social media makes these Pity Parties extremely easy to have. Just scrolling through Facebook, our ego sees people seemingly living on easy street, which makes us feel even worse.

The ultimate problem with Pity Parties is that they cause us to forget what we Truly are, as a Spiritual Being who is one with The Divine, and instead we subconsciously believe we are these human roles we are playing. The more we identify with the body/mind we suffer, and the more we identify as a Divine Being we are at peace.

An essential part of a Pity Party is to sit and ruminate over a series of unfortunate events that led us to this condition, causing us to shift into the victim role. Passing the responsibility for our situation onto to others, makes us seem innocent and them guilty, which can often give us a form of validation for having a Pity Party.

Since thoughts are energy, these negative thoughts we have been entertaining, have now created what we call depression and we are struggling to function as we normally would.

At this point we follow the Egotistical Programmed Mind into coping mechanisms for our depression, and seek to do whatever we need to do, to numb out. However, the only way out of the Pity Party is: to process what we are thinking and feeling and then shift the dialog to positive, rather than negative.

Processing

Processing is how I’ve always found my way out of a Pity Party! I grab my journal and pour out all the negative thoughts and how these thoughts are making me feel. Then I flip the discouraging script (that I’ve been listening to all day) to an encouraging script, by first asking myself; what is good about this situation, this is the truth that will set us free from the Egotistical Programmed Mind.

Flip The Script

Finally, knowing that we are Divine Spiritual Beings/Co-Creators with Christ, and what we believe will be; I write out how I want this situation to play out and with faith/confidence and a vision of this new dream, I will constantly meditate on this script until it becomes my reality or manifests. The trick is to not stop until the miracle happens.
