When we realize that we have an Egotistical Programmed Mind, we can live in awareness of it’s thoughts/feelings and do something about it, take charge of it, and respond as our True Self.
Following this line of thinking, it’s helpful to know and understand that the Sub-Conscious – Egotistical – Programmed Mind has layers to it!
The top layer is the most obvious and the first one we typically work on, which is the trauma and pain from our past. I help my students heal this initial layer, by using what I call “Spiritual Heart Surgery!” Which can take awhile depending on the trauma they’ve endured. They’ll need to practice a great deal of awareness and pausing to breathe when they are triggered, so they can process what they are feeling. Their supportive partner, can be of great help during these episodes, as they provide a safe place, filled with patience and encouragement.
The 2nd layer is the offenses and annoyances, that once recognized, can be easily dealt with by not giving negative meaning to situations and creating new perspectives. This layer takes a commitment and a great deal of acceptance as we come to terms with the fact that everything is happening for our awakening. When we understand, that a negative feeling in the body, is merely a symptom of something within our mind that needs healing, we can stop blaming our partner and know that they are just catalyst for our healing. Our partner can be a great sounding board as we process our feelings and work to heal our Egotistical Programming that’s essentially trying to cause a great divide between us.
The 3rd layer is the ego tendencies. These are rooted in the Ego’s Selfish Separate Self, that shows up as needing to be right, being lazy, apathetic, stubborn, set in our egotistical ways and unwillingness to change. Because we have been unknowingly following the Egotistical Programming and believing it’s our own thoughts, we cling to them as the truth and feel like they are the root of our very being. This 3rd layer is the most difficult to see, and a loving partner, who is willing to bravely point out our sub-conscious selfishness, while being patient as we come to terms with it, is crucial on our awakening journey.
A Great Partnership
This awakening journey takes a tremendous amount of humility and a willingness to hear our partner, knowing they have our best interest at heart. When we respond with;”what you are saying is valid and I will work on myself in this area and seek to do better,” our partner feels trusted, loved, wanted and needed. Knowing that they can come to us and express anything on their heart and mind, without being attacked or dismissed, creates a tremendous bond!
Partnering In Deprogramming
Our main goal in life is to deprogram the Egotistical Sub-Conscious Mind so that we can live as our True Self that is one with The Divine, and be able to be love/light to humanity. This takes a great deal of humility, open mindedness, compassion, empathy, team work, understanding and patience. All of which are completely opposite of what the ego is. Once this state of mind is achieved we step into our True Identity and we experience true happiness as we live a life of peace.
Separate The Ego From Your Partner
I have been married to my husband for 33 years and I’ll have to say; the most important thing that has helped our relationship, is being able to separate his True Self from his Egotistical Programming. In order to do this, I had to first work on removing my egotistical veils, so I could see clearly. When we can’t separate our partner from their ego, we tend to think their words and actions are coming from their True Self and that they don’t care if they hurt us. This couldn’t be farther from the truth.
When we can see the fearful/angry ego at work in our partner’s life, we realize that they are unknowingly being a hostage to it and they are being tormented. That’s why they say; “hurting people hurt people!” If we could see how sub-consciously tormented they are, we’d have a great deal of patience, compassion and empathy and our offenses would dissolve. We would no longer need to be in the egotistical “fight or flight mode!”
Being able to separate them from their ego, is extremely empowering, and we can be loving and helpful.
If we would all enter relationships knowing; they are for our awakening to our Egotistical Programming of the Sub-Conscious Mind and the Enlightenment of our True Self in The Divine, we would welcome all experiences and all feed back from our partner, greatly appreciating the crucial role they are playing in our life.
