Breaking The Addiction To Thinking

“I think therefore I am!” Descartes

Letting Go Of Descartes Belief

The greatest hinderance to our awakening from believing we are an Egotistical Separate Self, to knowing we are a Divine Being, has been the belief that “thinking proves our existence and creates happiness!”

In fact I have found on my own awakening journey and in helping others on their path, that the more we engage with thinking, the more we lose sight of our True Self as a Divine Being, and we drift back to sleep into the Matrix (social programming).

I am not what thinks! I am The Loving Awareness of what thinks!

I’ve identified 4 basic types of ego thoughts what we love to engage with, and keep us addicted to thinking:

Calculating

Judging

Planning

Rehearsing

Calculating: These thoughts come from believing that we are human beings (separate selves) that are lacking, and in need of something in order for us to be happy. Therefore we spend our time calculating numbers. It can be the amount of money the separate self needs, how many clients/customers it has or needs, the weight on the scale it needs to loose, the likes it gets on social media, the days until vacation or a holiday etc.

Judging: Judgmental thoughts are one of the hardest ego types of thoughts to overcome. Our Egotistical Programming has us believing that people should be different than they are, which keeps both of us Divine Beings, believing we are merely human beings (separate selves,) and consequently fuels the Dualistic Matrix.

Planning: The ego likes to plan what to do, instead of simply tapping into the knowing within us, and then doing it without the ego desire to feel special. Allowing the ego to plan and then feel special when those plans are carried out, releases addictive endorphins in the body. In fact, feeling the sense of accomplishment as a separate self, can be every addicting, keeping us in the cycle of planning and doing, instead of just being Divine.

Rehearsing: I find that the ego tends to sub-consciously project or make movies in the mind, as to how conversations or things will play out. Which by the way never happens, because it’s coming from the Egotistical Programmed Mind and not our True Self. Never-the-less, we engage in this time wasting activity in order to prepare our separate selves for what’s to come, in hopes of avoiding pain and suffering.

Steps To Heal This Thinking Addiction

  1. Be aware of what the ego body/mind is thinking about
  2. Label or put thoughts into one of these 4 categories
  3. Replace Calculating with trust in The Divine, Judging with acceptance, Planning with following Inner Guidance, and Rehearsing with “I don’t mind what happens!”
  4. Practice The Knowing

What is the Knowing?

The Knowing, is really just remembering what we are in The Divine.

It is the stillness of the mind.

It is the place we go to when we are meditating, which is beyond thoughts.

It is the peace of not needing to always be thinking, processing, and figuring out what to do next.

It’s simply following the Inner Guidance that we are one with.
