Many people are plagued with these nagging questions every day: “Why am I here?” “What is my purpose?”
We’ve been told “God has a plan for our life!” But for many who struggle to get through each day, going to school, working at a job they really don’t love, often feeling stuck in an relationship where they don’t feel loved, understood or supported. It can be really hard to see “God’s plan” for our life!
Discovering our purpose is really not as hard as it might seem. We have desires and passions planted deep within our hearts. Everyone has gifts and talents we often use and probably don’t even realize it!
So to discover our purpose, why we were created, starts with paying attention to what bother us the most in this world! What do we really want to see changed? What injustice gets us fired up? These are our passions!
We also need to pay attention to what comes natural for us, such as the arts, (writing, music, painting, drawing) science, math, care giving, constructing, organizing, motivating others, counseling our friends, speaking to groups of people etc. These are our gifts and talents!
When we put our passions together with our gifts/talents, we will begin to discover why we are here. The answer is, that we are here to make the world a better place or we could say to make it on earth as it is in heaven!
This will also lead us to realize there is a creator of the universe that loves us and made each of us so beautifully unique, that he does have plans for us to use our gifts, talents and passions to experience an abundant life found in him, his name is Jesus!
