Christians Don’t Have A Monopoly On Christ

13/09/2023

Having been a Christian for 33 years, and then having the Holy Spirit wake me up at 2:22 am for 2 years for deconstruction of my beliefs, I was completely: humbled, healed of my past trauma, recognized my Egotistical Programmed Mind (E.P.M.) and awakened to my True Self in The Divine. This resulted in me leaving the Christian Church and going deeper into my relationship with Christ.

After leaving the church five years ago, I found myself sitting in a Starbucks coffee shop working on my book, when 2 women I knew from the church, walked in a sat down near me. They didn’t say anything, so I didn’t know if they just didn’t notice me or were ignoring me. Never-the-less, before I left, I walked over with the intentions of just saying a quickly hello, how are you doing and good-bye.

One of the ladies however, took the opportunity to ask what I was up to, and where I was going to church, in which I replied that; “I was working on my book and I don’t go to church anymore!” Then she asked me a question I wasn’t ready for, and that was; “Are you a Christian?” When she asked that question, my mind scrambled to give an answer, because even though I have a relationship with Christ, love Christ, follow Christ, I wasn’t attending church, so I was sure that would disqualify me from identifying as a Christian, so I told her; “No I am not a Christian.”

This encounter occurred about 6 months ago and I really didn’t think anything of it. However, for the past couple months I’ve been having friends, clients, and students tell me that people from that church are assuming things about me, gossiping and basically slandering me. When this first started happening I blew it off and remembered what Jesus said; he was persecuted (by religious people) and therefore so will we be persecuted.  Then I had an extended family member asking if I left the faith and why. That’s when I decided to write and post a blog online titled: “I left Christianity To Follow Christ.” I sent it to the family member, it answered his questions, he was really positive and supportive, so that seemed to be the end of it, or so I thought.

This week I began to hear once again that these Christians are still talking about me. So I sent them the blog to end the rumors and I reposted the blog online. To my surprise this time the blog is blowing up and people are sending me direct messages and thanking me for my blog, because they too have left Christianity, but are also followers of Christ, and have been feeling like they are the only ones.

Spiritual Heart Surgery

For some reason this situation was really bothering me. So I did what I teach my students to do when they are thrown out of peace: Spiritual Heart Surgery.

I wrote out the situation

I wrote out how it was affecting me: Frustration and Annoyance.

Then I tapped into The Inner Guidance for the truth about this situation and what I discovered was; that I wasn’t frustrated or annoyed at these ladies or what is being said about me, but rather the annoyance and frustration was because Christians think that they have a monopoly on Christ. In other words, they assume that just because a person doesn’t regularly attend church, then they must not be a true follower of Christ.

Addressing Three Groups of People Affected By This

The final step of the Spiritual Heart Surgery is to take that truth and decide what I need to do, and that was to make a video and speak to 3 groups of people.

  1. To the Christians I say: People are leaving your churches because they want to be free from fear, anger, guilt, shame, regret, judgment, and feeling like they are never good enough. Ultimately they want to be like Christ, who is unconditionally loving, inclusive, and is a friend to the marginalized, along with promoting unity, oneness and teaches us to; “Be perfect as I am perfect,” which is to know our True Identity in Christ. If someone leaves your church, instead of assuming things about them, meet with them, ask them about themselves, what they are going through and their experiences, instead of asking if they are a Christian.
  2. To the younger people such as my children and others their age that have left Christianity long before their parents did because they saw through the B.S., I say; I”m sorry for what we put you through and I thank you for your love, forgiveness and patience as we figured it out.
  3. To those who are like me and you are not a Christian, but you are a follower and lover of Christ, devoting your time, energy and money to help humanity, rather than giving to an organization, I thank you! I want to encourage and inspire you to keep doing what you’re doing, we need your light and love.

We are in the dawning of a new era!  It’s one where we are waking up to what we Truly are in The Divine which is; loving awareness. We are aligning our life with our True Identity and finally experiencing a: confidence, faith, trust and peace that passes all understanding.
