Depression Trap

Laying on my couch yesterday with absolutely no energy, just wanting to sleep or binge watch Netflix, I asked myself how I got here. It seemed as though everything was fine and then the next minute I was down and out.

Pulling myself out of the pit of darkness, I grabbed my journal and made a list of 10 things that started bothering me just 4 days prior, however I just stuffed them, ignored them, and told myself, “I’m fine!”

After I made my list, I looked for common issues, this is when I realized that these situations fell into 4 categories:

Expectations – Which are resentments and disappointments waiting to happen.

Frustration – Being self focused and feeling sorry for myself.

Changing – Needing to let go of somethings in my life that I was resisting and accepting some things for what they are.

Anticipation – Fear of a couple things I’ve been feeling uncertain about!

I was instantly reminded by my Higher Self that, we are either being the ego or being awareness, never both! Being the ego is Fearful/Angry/Hell, being awareness if Peaceful/Loving/Heaven.

This experience was also a reminder that it is extremely important to be focused on feelings, don’t ignore them, but rather process them with:

  1. What am I feeling?
  2. Why am I feeling this?
  3. When have I felt like this before, so I know of trauma being triggered or what is the truth about this situation?

The human struggle is that of free will! Will we choose to be the egotistical body/mind or remember that we are a spiritual being of light/love and one with the Devine?

The other important reminder was that we are energy and we are always vibrating at a certain frequency according to our feelings! It is incredibly important to stay positive and keep our energy centers fully open and charged up. Each of those 10 experiences, that I attached negative meaning to, was depleting my energy centers to the point that I didn’t have any energy left and the feelings were labeled as “depressed!”

Therefore we need to remember that in order to stay charged up, we need to:

1. Live in awareness of what we are and what the ego is up to!

2. Acknowledge the feelings it’s creating!

3. Process the feelings!

4. Let go of negative perceptions with truth and replace all negativity with positivity, such as; gratitude and love!

A great book to help with this process is; Letting Go! By David Hawkins
