What Would Jesus Do With The LGBTQ?

22/08/2023

When I was a Christian in the 80’s we use to wear these bracelets that had the letters W.W.J.D. on them, which stood for “What Would Jesus Do?” They served as a reminder in the midst of temptation or having to make a hard decision, to stop and ponder that question, before acting upon an egotistical impulse.

I don’t know if Christians necessarily need to wear a bracelet to remind them to be unconditional love, but what they do need to do before taking action against the LGBTQ is to ponder: “What Jesus would do?”

Would Jesus be offended by them? Would he be frustrated, bitter or angry at them? Would he judge or condemn them? Would he try to invoke people to rise up resist and/or battle them? Of course not, because all of these responses come from the Egotistical Programmed Mind that is rooted in fear and anger.

Jesus absolutely had no fear, he overcame the fearful world by looking beyond body/minds and seeing Divine Beings. This is why he could befriend anyone and show them unconditional love.

I think where the huge disconnect is for Christians is that they believe that the Bible is the inherent word of God. When in fact the word of God is Jesus Christ. (John 1) Therefore if the word of God is Jesus Christ, shouldn’t we be living as Jesus lived, unconditionally loving, accepting and affirming that at the core of what we are, we are all the same: Spiritual Beings of love and light?

I’m noticing that fear is running rampant in the Christian community when it comes to the LGBTQ and instead of doing what Jesus would do, and befriending the LGBTQ, they are; creating fear, anger, hate and division. If your pastor gets on stage and says anything about the LGBTQ other than go love them, be their friend, seek to understand them, then the message is coming from an ego and not God.

Of course none of this is going to be truly solved until we all do the work to heal our trauma, shed our Egotistical Programmed Mind, grow spiritually and transcend this fearful/angry world.
